Comfortable Self-Catering Accommodation available in Canterbury!

  • Self-contained studio apartment in Victorian house in Conservation area. (N.B. the apartment is on the second floor and there are no lifts.)

  • Located near Canterbury East railway station (no train noise heard in apartment), a short walk from Canterbury town centre with all its shops and restaurants, Internet cafes and the Canterbury Cathedral Archives. On-street parking available nearby.

  • Other Archive Offices in Kent are easily accessible from this base.

  • Sleeps 1-3, with double futon bed-settee in living room and separate folding single bed on landing.

  • Central heating.

  • Separate fully-equipped kitchen, with cooker, hob, microwave, fridge, washing machine, iron and ironing board, radio.

  • Bathroom with WC, bath and basin.

  • Colour television.

  • Microfiche reader and small reference library of Kent family history research books and microfiche.

  • Available all year round for Saturday to Saturday lets. Any number of weeks can be booked. Shorter periods may be available for bookings made within two weeks of the desired date.

Extras bookable at extra cost:

  • Taxi service to/from London Gatwick and Heathrow airports.
    Cost: £60 per car of up to three persons and luggage, one way.

  • Basic grocery pack - milk, bread, juice, cereal, coffee/tea, butter/spread, sugar, jam/marmalade/vegemite, all to your choice, for example: skimmed milk, wholemeal bread, cornflakes etc. etc..
    Cost: £10 - FREE if full payment is made at the time of booking.


  • Consultancy - personalised service including advice on how to tackle research in Kent, which of the several Archive Offices in Kent you need to visit in order to do your research, advice on solving research problems etc. Can be done before or after you arrive.
    Cost: £20.00 per hour.

Terms:
Weekly, Saturday afternoon to Saturday morning, January-January 2005.

  • One person: £210.
  • Two people: £260.
  • Three people: £310.
    (Enquire for 2005 rates)

  • Includes electricity and gas. Linen and towels provided.
  • Sorry, no pets. No smoking.
  • £50 non-refundable deposit required at the time of booking.
  • Balance to be paid by eight weeks before arrival.

For overseas visitors the following methods of payment are preferred:

  • United States - a personal check in U.S. dollars or Sterling bank draft.
  • Canada - a Sterling Postal Money Order payable in pounds sterling - available from a Post Office.
  • Australia - a Sterling cheque or bank draft.
